Euthanasia is a very interesting topic indeed and I will comment in english because I fear my written arabic is not the best.

Depending one what one lives by there are many approaches to this subject. A moral one, an ethical one, a religious one etc.

There are also many levels of being "not fit for living".

In general, from an islamic point of view, if a person is in a "vegetated state of mind", and has been so for long and the only thing keeping them alive is a respirator, it is permitted to shut it off.

Regarding doctors being people are supposed to make people better and not worse, that is of course true. Atthe same time, there have been many people who have been declared never to recover and yet have done so anyway. Call it a miracle, call it the work of God or call it luck, whatever ones eligious preference or non preference is.

Based on that, the argument of euthanasia being an option for a person diagnosed with a disease that seems to have none or little chance of recovery would perhaps fall slightly short.

Then there is the problem of determining when it should be allowed and for what states of unwellness?

Who would make that list?

If we were to make a list of diseases for which euthanasia be made permitted, what would be the criteria?

Then again there is the religious side to it which also becomes the moral flag for those who believe. The idea that God gives life and takes life.

All of this is very easy to say when one is helathy and comfortable at home, of course.

Religion or not, it is an interesting and relevant discussion and yet there are many depths to it. Who would perform euthanasia? Would doctors be forced to do so in their job description? How many would refuse? How could it be misused?

I think the list would be personal. Like I said, if I ended up on a repirator or what not, I don't want the doctors to attempt to bring me back if anything goes wrong. Just unplug me.

I remember seeing a machine (possibly on the Wikipedia) that does the actual entire euthanasia process. Therefore, doctors wouldn't have to refuse or not when it comes to euthanasia. The euthanasia machine could be kept at a legal court, with a place for witnesses and all.

It is quite a deep and important discussion that many should discuss.
